Palestra do PPGOceano: "Impact of oceanic fronts on atmospheric circulation"

Palestra PPGOceano 12/2017

Palestrante: Rein Haarsma (Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute, KNMI). Abstract: Oceanic fronts, often associated with western boundary currents, are characterized by strong sea surface temperature gradients. Since recent years there is growing evidence from observations and high-resolution modeling that these oceanic fronts have a strong impact on weather and climate. In this seminar we will illustrate this and discuss the implications for seasonal forecasts and climate predictions.
