OpenFOAM is a free, open source CFD software that has been under development since 2004. It has a large user base in most areas of engineering and science, both in commercial and academic organizations. OpenFOAM has a wide range of functions for solving complex fluid flow, heat transfer, acoustics, solid mechanics and electromagnetics. This course provides an introduction to the basic installation and programming issues. It is taught through a combination of lectures with slides and practical lessons in which students carry out exercises on less complex problems. After completing the exercises, problems whose experimental results can be found in the literature are studied. Modeling of initial and boundary conditions and the importance of analyzing the results will be studied. Teaching is combined with the use of Moodle to apply questionnaires, provide materials and communicate.
